PCI/Spider Installation

Spider is a special version of PCI/CFR that works by automatically loading images from a designated "hot folder". Spider is configured by editing the PCI.ini file with a text editor, such as Notepad. In standard PCI installations, the PCI.INI file is located in the C:\Quartz Data\Data folder. Modify the PCI.INI file to set the following parameters. Note that if these entries are not already in the PCI.INI file, you will need to add them yourself.

[DirectoryMonitor]

IncomingDirectory=C:\Image Transfer

The above sets the name of the folder that Spider will "watch". This folder can be located either on the local machine or at a Network location.

MonitorOn=1

MonitorOn must be set to `1' (one) for Spider to monitor the directory. Setting MonitorOn to `0' (zero) will disable directory monitoring.

MonitorTimeout=30

The maximum length of time, in seconds, to wait for a file transfer to complete (i.e., if PCI is unable to open the file within this many seconds of detecting that it has started to transfer, PCI ignores the file).

DelayTime=0

The time in milliseconds to wait after the arrival is detected to attempt to open the file.

UsePCIFileName=1

If set to `1', indicates that PCI file names should be used; if set to `0', indicates that files should retain their original names.

PCI must be running when a file arrives for that file to be loaded. If a file is placed in the directory when PCI is not running, it is ignored.
