Selecting the Clipboard Region

The clipboard can be used to manipulate whole images or just parts of images. To select a portion of an image to copy to the clipboard, first choose the rectangular region selection tool from the tool panel. Then, simply press the left mouse button at one corner of the desired region and then drag the mouse, holding down the left button, to the opposite corner of the region. A rectangle which indicates the boundaries of the selected region is superimposed on the image. The clipboard copy and cut functions will now operate on just this region. You can also use the fixed-size, ellipse, polygon and freehand region selection tools described in the Drawing Tools chapter.

To clear the selected region and select the entire image, simply select a region selection tool and click the left mouse button anywhere in the image. The selection rectangle will disappear indicating that the entire image is now selected.
